Healthy Ageing Class
We offer an exercise class once a week at Physio Group South West, focusing on gentle, low impact exercises designed to improve bone density, balance and strength in order to prevent falls, fractures and maintain fitness. The risk of osteoporosis and falling increase as you get older and can be a serious health risk. Each year thousands of Australians are hospitalised due to injuries from preventable falls – in fact, more than one quarter of people over 65 have a fall. Some of the injuries include wounds, broken hips, shoulders, ankles or wrists and head injuries. Falls are usually caused by reduced balance, muscle weakness especially in the legs, inappropriate shoes, hazards in the home, vision problems and even some medications.
