Myofascial Cupping – Remedial Massage
Myofascial cupping is another modality that can be used during your remedial massage treatment to aid in the release of soft tissue. Instead of positive pressure being applied through massage techniques, a negative pressure is applied by using a vacuum suctioned cup on the body to decompress and stretch the underlying tissues/fascia beneath it and increase circulation. They can be statically placed or moved/glided around the area depending on the treatment.
The aim of this treatment is to:
- Increase muscle flexibility and range of motion
- Increase circulation to the area to encourage the healing benefits of fresh blood flow and removal of old stagnant blood
- Increase the lymphatic flow
- Increase the mobility of fascia and connective tissue
- Induce relaxation
- Relieve muscle tension.
The use of myofascial cupping during your treatment can be discussed with your remedial massage therapist during your consultation on the day.
